NOTO ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT
NOTO is home to many art galleries and studios featuring works from local artists as well as artists from the region and beyond. The standard hours of operation are listed, but most are open later on First Fridays and other special events.
Exhibits include themed shows as well as featured artists, often alongside performing and installation art. The building is home to Pirate's Walk Art, Pandamonium Arts, D. Morrison Art, Studio 62 Art Bar and Nancy Jones Studio.
The foyer of this art, music, food and drink establishment features a gallery of paintings by George Mayfield.
Original art in a variety of mediums and styles, from folk art to abstract, still life to fantasy and painted furniture.
The Great Overland Station, as a building is itself, is a work of art with ornate glazed terra cotta ornamentation. The station also features rotating exhibits in the Fink Exhibit Gallery as well permanent exhibits throughout.
Matryoshka’s laid back, eclectic vibe comes with many layers, including a gift shop, fine art gallery, hand-made goods and a private tattoo studio catering to custom, one-on-one relationships. The shop features art by Jennifer Bohlander, Buck Reist, and local artists.
Art from various local artists is displayed in the main office area of this local service provider.
The Morris Art Gallery located in the NOTO Arts Center features a new show each month. The gallery was made possible by a generous donation from Betty Morris.
Nathan Ham Photography is located in a native stone building built for use as a Baptist Church in 1871.
The Halls of Valhalla event space serves as a venue for sponsored artists on First Fridays from 5 p.m. to close.
The NOTO ArtsPlace offers space, equipment and services to assist artists. The gallery space features regular exhibits.
Eight artists have studios at STUDIO 831: Anne Kufahl, Diane Lawrence, Angela Lexow, Gwen McClain, Pam Renovato, Hi Stockwell, Lois VanLiew and Barbara Waterman-Peters. In addition, the studio shows the work of Trudy L. Waterman, Larry Peters, Michael Bradley, Merl Miles and Ryan Caldwell.
Owned and operated by Amber Rager, the True North gallery features a children’s corner and an art gallery for artists to display their work.

Music, poetry readings and other performance art is a regular happening in NOTO.
Dances featuring Mexican Folkloric dance, such as salso and cumbia.
Various genres of music most every Friday and Saturday generally starting at 9:00p.m.
Local bands play in the taproom occasionally. These bands are musicians who write their own music and do not cover songs.
Poetry reading every first Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Various shows throughout the year, including live music, burlesque, drag shows and more.
Music every Saturday, as well as most Fridays and some Sundays. Poetry every second Tuesday and live art each month.

Art demonstrations and classes, including individual lessons, are provided through several organizations and individual artists.
Jordon Brooks offers creative drawing art lessons for youth. Lessons are offered by appointment.
Ballet Folklorico de Topeka's dance studio classes are open to anyone interested in learning about the art of Mexican Folkloric Dance.

The Great Overland Station offers regular presentations that pertain to the history of the area and railroad, including regular Harvey House Luncheons.
The NOTO Arts Center offers an array of art classes featuring artist from the NOTO district and the community. Classes range from brief, one-session workshops to multi-session classes designed to enhance knowledge and technique.
Barbara Waterman-Peters offers individual classes in oil and watercolor for adults, from beginners to professionals, seeking to build on the skills of each. Studio 831 has offered open group critiques where artists are invited to bring a painting or other piece for discussion.
